Job Summary

The Tippecanoe County Government is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian/Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our office buildings and outdoor spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain facilities, including dusting, polishing, and cleaning floors, walls, and windows
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, including vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners, and buffers
  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify problems and determine maintenance and repairs needed
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and restock as needed
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic cleaning, sanitation, and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment
  • Ability to physically perform essential duties of the position, including exerting sustained physical effort and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions

The Custodian/Maintenance Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and dirt. The position requires the ability to work at heights, wear protective clothing and equipment, and respond to situations involving potential physical harm to self and others.
