Job Overview

Position Summary: The Peer Coordinator at A Safe Haven Foundation is essential in fostering peer support initiatives and ensuring the effective incorporation of these services within our framework. This role involves close collaboration with program leaders and team members to create and enhance peer support strategies that encourage recovery, empowerment, and community involvement.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside program leaders and staff to weave peer support services into current offerings and innovate new programs that address the changing needs of our clientele.
  • Participate in team discussions and peer support gatherings to promote teamwork, peer education, and mutual assistance among staff.
  • Keep detailed records of peer support engagements, including attendance, participant insights, and outcome metrics, and compile reports as necessary.
  • Act as a bridge between peer support specialists and other team members, advocating for the distinct viewpoints and contributions of peer support within the organization.
  • Stay updated on best practices and new developments in peer support and recovery-focused services, integrating this knowledge into program design and execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in peer support, peer counseling, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, with a talent for building rapport and establishing trust with individuals from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of prioritizing tasks and managing several projects concurrently.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and awareness of the effects of trauma on individuals and communities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, engaging with colleagues from diverse disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Willingness to adapt to shifting priorities and respond to urgent situations as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
