Organizational Overview:

Philanthropy Northwest is in search of a values-oriented leader to take on the role of Chief People and Culture Officer. Key Responsibilities:

Internal Human Resources Leadership:

  • Act as the internal HR leader, providing strategic insights to advance our mission and values across all operational areas, particularly in human resources.
  • Collaborate with leadership to cultivate a sense of belonging and develop strategies for staff recruitment, retention, and workplace culture enhancement.
  • Offer guidance to staff regarding benefits, performance evaluations, and HR policy implementation.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and exit processes for all personnel.
  • Manage employee benefit plans, including group insurance.
  • Support supervisors in effectively managing their teams.
  • Facilitate regular connection meetings for staff and contractors.

HR Shared Services and Consulting:

  • Deliver capacity-building training and facilitation services to nonprofit organizations and tribes, utilizing our HR models and methodologies.
  • Expand HR Shared Services for external partners, advising on best practices and serving as an HR resource.
  • Oversee recruitment and management of HR consultants, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage contractual relationships with all external contractors.
  • Collaborate with teams focused on organizational development and leadership transitions.

Education and Training:

  • Provide training on HR topics through community classes and tailored sessions for organizations.
  • Serve as an instructor for leadership development programs.

Candidate Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following skills, experiences, and attributes:

  • A minimum of ten years of professional experience in human resources or related fields, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Advanced HR certification (e.g., SHRM, PSHRA, or HRCI) is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR topics and federal and state labor laws.
  • Experience in employee relations and fostering supportive workplace cultures.
  • Skills in capacity-building, teaching, and mentoring.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate diverse team dynamics with emotional intelligence.
  • Commitment to a relationship-based approach in HR practices.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
