Key Responsibilities:

Communication and Coordination:

  • Uphold Afognak's corporate values and ethics by embodying Alutiiq principles.
  • Advocate for and promote Afognak's objectives and priorities with Shareholders and community stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication systems with Shareholders and throughout the organization.
  • Articulate and implement Afognak's mission under ANCSA, ensuring all employees understand their roles in achieving that mission.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Afognak, representing its interests in various public forums and media engagements.

Planning and Development:

  • Identify and promote opportunities for Shareholder success in education, employment, and cultural practices.
  • Set both short-term and long-term goals for Afognak, subject to approval by the CEO and Board.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Board to prioritize strategic initiatives.
  • Implement strategic plans that guide the corporation's direction, incorporating employee input.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Lead and evaluate the performance of senior management in various operational areas.
  • Ensure financial integrity and oversight of Shareholder functions.
  • Monitor organizational design and staffing to achieve Afognak's objectives.
  • Participate in Board meetings and provide necessary support for board committees.
