Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in South Elgin, Illinois.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to assist our surgical team in providing high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the surgical field, maintaining a safe work environment, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare the surgical field, including verifying instrument and supply availability and reading scrub tips.
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to regulatory agency standards and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure effective patient care, including participating in the surgical Time Out and anticipating the needs of the physician.
- Assist in emergency situations, demonstrating appropriate actions and prioritizing to meet patient needs.
- Participate in the preparation of the surgical field and supplies/instruments delivered to the field.
- Verify specific needs of the physician by completely reading scrub tips.
- Assist with clean up and turnover upon completion of the case.
- Efficiently utilize supplies to avoid waste and decrease costs.
- Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years of surgical scrub experience.
- CPR certification.
- Certified Surgical Technologist certification will be obtained by the employee by sitting for the certification exam within 3 months of employment.
- Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste, and chemicals, radiation, hazardous materials, anesthesia gases, and life-threatening diseases.
- On-call availability (nights, weekends, holidays).
- Rotating shifts.
This position requires the ability to move heavy patients and equipment, stand for long periods, and respond quickly to emergencies. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate, cooperate, and work well with others.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
