Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in South Elgin, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the surgical field, maintaining a safe work environment, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the surgical field, including setting up and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to regulatory agency standards.
  • Assist the physician and other healthcare team members as needed.
  • Participate in the surgical Time Out and ensure all team members agree before proceeding with the procedure.
  • Verify instrument and supply availability, and assist with opening sterile supplies and instruments.
  • Efficiently utilize supplies to avoid waste and decrease costs.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide a cooperative work environment.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years of surgical scrub experience.
  • CPR certification.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification within 3 months of employment.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste, and chemicals.
  • On-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Rotating shifts.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to move heavy patients and equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Flexibility to deal with stressful, changing environments.

This position requires the ability to communicate, cooperate, and work well with others. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary.
