Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in Elgin, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the surgical field, maintaining a safe work environment, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the surgical field, including setting up and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to regulatory agency standards and hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Assist in emergency situations, demonstrating appropriate actions and prioritizing to meet patient needs.
  • Participate in the surgical Time Out and ensure all team members agree before proceeding with the procedure.
  • Verify instrument and supply availability, and assist in opening sterile supplies and instruments.
  • Efficiently utilize supplies to avoid waste and decrease costs.
  • Assist in maintaining the established goals of Surgical Services and Advocate Aurora Health.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years of surgical scrub experience.
  • CPR certification.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification will be obtained by the employee within 3 months of employment.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste, and chemicals.
  • On-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Rotating shifts.

This position requires the ability to move heavy patients and equipment, stand for long periods, and respond quickly to emergencies. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate, cooperate, and work well with others.
