Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team in South Elgin, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing the surgical field, maintaining a safe work environment, and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the surgical field, including setting up and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to regulatory agency standards.
  • Assist the physician and surgical team during procedures, including sponging, suctioning, and retracting.
  • Act as a preceptor, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
  • Participate in emergency situations, demonstrating appropriate actions and prioritizing patient care.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care and promote a positive work environment.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years of surgical scrub experience.
  • CPR certification.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification within 3 months of employment.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with exposure to body fluids, waste, and chemicals. On-call availability, rotating shifts, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds are also required.

This job requires the ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
