Job Overview

Position Summary: The Service Technician for Transmission Systems is an entry-level role responsible for conducting on-site maintenance and repairs of customer vehicles, both in the field and at a service facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all operational policies and procedures.
  • Receive daily work assignments from the supervisor.
  • Drive a company vehicle to customer locations for repairs.
  • Engage with customers to discuss vehicle issues and symptoms.
  • Diagnose problems in customer vehicles.
  • Inform the supervisor and customer about necessary repairs for vehicles and transmissions.
  • Repair or replace vehicle wiring and components as required.
  • Repair or replace transmissions as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts in the assigned company vehicle.
  • Ensure the company vehicle meets all standards and provisions.
  • Advise customers on additional repairs needed while servicing their vehicles.
  • Utilize all available technical information effectively.
  • Follow diagnostic procedures accurately.
  • Conduct engine driveline runout checks.
  • Stay updated with current knowledge through training materials and manuals.
  • Possess and utilize personal American-made tools for all assigned tasks.
  • Utilize Allison literature and specialized tools as needed.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Customer Service: Handle challenging customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs; solicit feedback to enhance service; maintain a professional demeanor and represent the company positively.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three years of experience in automotive, truck, or heavy equipment service, or a combination of education and experience.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with laptop and Windows operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
  • ASE certification is preferred.
  • Allison transmission maintenance and rebuild certifications are a plus.
  • Participation in Allison Transmission Guild is desirable.
  • CDL written exam completion is preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong comprehension abilities.
