Position: Water Resource Design Engineer
Remote (Candidates must be in Florida or willing to relocate to Florida)

Role Summary:
As a Water Resource Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in the planning and execution of projects aimed at restoring the Everglades. Your expertise will be crucial in designing canal and levy systems, as well as other water flow projects that are vital to maintaining the ecological balance of the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct the design of canal and levy systems, alongside other water management projects related to environmental restoration and DOT initiatives.
- Employ AutoCAD, GIS, and various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools to create models, analyze data, and develop effective design solutions.
- Draft mitigation, stormwater, grading, and construction plans, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional standards for Best Management Practices (BMPs).
- Provide technical guidance during the land acquisition process, perform initial feasibility assessments, and evaluate mitigation design proposals.
- Generate technical specifications and supervise construction teams on-site.
- Conduct field assessments, site evaluations, and oversee construction activities, with occasional travel as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, specializing in water resources or environmental engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in stormwater management, floodplain management, and/or design of streams and wetlands.
- Experience in overseeing construction for natural resource projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D, TR-20/55, HEC-RAS/HMS, XPSWMM, and GIS technologies.
- Advanced understanding of watershed hydrology, stream geomorphology, and related disciplines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex design concepts to diverse audiences.
- Possession of a PE License in Florida or eligibility to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with canal and levy systems, particularly in relation to Everglades restoration projects.
- Background in conducting floodplain analyses, hydraulic studies, and related assessments.
