La Clínica de La Raza is seeking a dedicated Optometrist to join our team of passionate eye care professionals. As a champion of vision health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our diverse patient population.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to diagnose and treat various eye conditions, including glaucoma and color blindness.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids to improve patients' quality of life.
  • Develop treatment plans and analyze test results to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction.
  • Train assistants to perform screening and other functions as appropriate.
  • Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.

Patient Experience:

  • Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements, and safety factors.
  • Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologists or other healthcare practitioners if additional medical treatment is necessary.
  • Implement continuing education and screening programs to promote optimal patient care.

Collaboration & Mentorship:

  • Act as an administrative and operations resource to optometry student interns.
  • Attend staff meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of optometry, Doctor of Optometry degree.
  • Valid California Optometry license.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate.
  • One year internship and/or experience in a community clinic or private practice.
  • Experience supervising student interns desirable.
