Position Title: EH&S Specialist at Colton Power Project

The EH&S Specialist role presents a significant opportunity to enhance the operational success of the Colton Power Project within the San Joaquin Energy Project. Key responsibilities include the implementation and oversight of environmental and safety initiatives for the project, as well as providing essential support to plant management. Ideal candidates should possess experience in multi-media environmental compliance and safety to effectively tackle the diverse challenges associated with maintaining a safe and environmentally sound operational setting.

The EH&S Specialist will also provide backup support to four additional facilities managed by the San Joaquin Energy Project in California, including the Tracy Power Project, Henrietta Peaker Plant, Hanford Peaker Plant, and the Malaga Plant.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement daily environmental programs to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Manage emissions monitoring and reporting obligations.
  • Develop and maintain facility-specific environmental strategies.
  • Engage with environmental regulators and manage the Environmental Management System.
  • Maintain the SPCC Plan to prevent and address spills effectively.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Administer safety programs for employees and contractors.
  • Conduct safety training, site inspections, and respond to incidents.
  • Maintain safety data sheets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between the plant and regulatory agencies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Generate necessary reports for various stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative and staff support as needed.

Working Relationships:

The EH&S Specialist will report to the Plant Manager and collaborate with NAES corporate groups and client contacts.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This role involves physical tasks such as standing, climbing, and lifting, necessitating the use of protective equipment. Engagement with hazardous materials may be required.

Work Schedule:

Regular workdays are Monday to Friday, with potential for extended hours, shifts, weekends, and holidays based on operational conditions.

Compensation:

The initial compensation range for this position is $83,600 - $117,100.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training is preferred.
  • DOT HazMat certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in environmental compliance within operational facilities is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CEMS software is beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with South Coast AQMD compliance is highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and safety regulations.
  • Good knowledge of power plant operations and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
