Overview

The Senior Procurement Category Specialist will work closely with Global Directors and Category Managers to drive sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships, optimize costs, and implement risk mitigation strategies for both Indirect and Direct Procurement. This role is crucial in refining processes to enhance overall operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Category Managers to formulate and execute comprehensive category management strategies for designated categories, while gaining insights into devices and services from assigned suppliers globally.
  • Perform in-depth market research and analysis to uncover cost-saving opportunities, identify emerging trends, and anticipate potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Investigate industry best practices in procurement and category management to stay ahead of market trends.
  • Lead price analysis initiatives and address cost increases with the aim of establishing competitive pricing benchmarks.
  • Establish and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers, fostering continuous improvement in performance, pricing, and innovation.
  • Support Management in the development of RFX strategic sourcing strategies and New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Collaborate with Management on the RFP/RFQ process, which includes leading cross-functional teams, creating solicitation documents, evaluating proposals, and negotiating high-value contracts.
  • Negotiate and oversee Supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with contract obligations.
  • Prioritize supplier components with support from divisions for assigned suppliers globally.
  • Track and report supplier performance for assigned suppliers globally, presenting findings as necessary.
  • Work with Management on supplier performance management programs to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual commitments.
  • Assist in the implementation of procurement technology solutions.
  • Analyze data and generate reports in collaboration with finance, operations, quality, and other departments, maintaining category-specific documentation.
  • Provide daily support to Procurement Leadership and Category Managers on various projects and activities as required.
  • Manage supplier order processes for assigned suppliers globally, coordinating with all entities on purchase order updates and providing forecasts as needed.
  • Engage in order management activities.
  • Support category budgets and contribute to achieving measurable cost savings while monitoring the validation status of savings.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to streamline procurement activities and improve overall efficiency.
  • Offer strategic insights and recommendations to senior management regarding procurement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
  • CPSM or CPM certification is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of the job area typically acquired through higher education combined with experience is required.
  • Practical knowledge of project management may be beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Procurement or Supply Chain systems, tools, policies, and procedures is essential.
  • Experience in both Direct and Indirect Procurement is advantageous.

Qualification Requirements

  • Proven understanding of negotiations, cost reduction strategies, and daily Procurement operations.
  • Basic knowledge of demand planning and inventory management is expected.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in both collaborative and independent environments with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to remain composed and responsive in fast-paced situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.
