Bilingual Community Outreach Coordinator

The Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments (MOTA) seeks a highly motivated and qualified candidate to serve as a Bilingual Community Outreach Specialist in the Mayor's Office on Asian Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a strategic approach to engage, empower, and improve the quality of life of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the District of Columbia.
The incumbent will conduct community outreach activities, such as door-to-door visits, workshops, and meetings, to better understand the needs and concerns of the AAPI community. They will also assist in planning the development and communication of information designed for the target community, including translating materials and interpretation.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, marketing, or publicity, preferably in a government or nonprofit setting. They will be able to speak and write fluently in Korean and English, and be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The work environment is primarily in-person in an office setting, with times in the field permitted when there is a related event. Current District of Columbia residents will receive priority and advanced preference for screening and interviews.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct community outreach activities to the District's AAPI community
- Assist in planning the development and communication of information designed for the target community
- Lead research projects to better understand the major problems which confront the AAPI community
- Build strong relationships with non-governmental AAPI organizations and other government agencies
- Travel throughout the District to meet with residents, businesses, and community groups
- Provide administrative and program support
