Position Summary:

The Aircraft Production Test Pilot is responsible for conducting a series of evaluations on new production aircraft to assess their airworthiness, performance, handling characteristics, and operational systems. The pilot ensures that the aircraft complies with Cirrus and FAA standards established in the type design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough preflight inspections, weight and balance calculations, and performance assessments to confirm flight readiness.

• Analyze weather conditions, aircraft status, and other variables to make informed go/no-go decisions in accordance with Cirrus Flight Test safety protocols.

• Execute a range of flight tests to evaluate the aircraft's systems, performance, handling, and stability, ensuring compliance with Type Design, FAA, and Cirrus quality standards.

• Monitor and assess recording, measuring, and operating instruments during test flights to evaluate aircraft performance.

• Collect data points and document aircraft behavior to assist in troubleshooting any anomalies.

• Maintain accurate records of aircraft performance data and document any deviations from established criteria.

• Adhere to all regulatory paperwork associated with job responsibilities, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.

• Follow all Cirrus Design safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment.

• Collaborate effectively within a team while also being capable of independent work. Flexibility for weekend assignments and shifts may be required based on production needs.

• Provide guidance and training to other test pilots as necessary.

• Be prepared for occasional overnight and international travel.

• Possess a valid passport or the ability to obtain one.

• Demonstrate comfort in piloting non-pressurized aircraft at high altitudes.

Qualifications:


• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of 1000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.

• At least four years of relevant experience in production flight testing and/or maintenance flight testing.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Experience with various high-performance aircraft is preferred; aerobatic, tail-wheel, multi-engine, or military flight experience is advantageous.

• A background in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar technical fields is highly desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:
Applicants must hold an FAA Commercial or ATP pilot's license with single-engine and instrument ratings. A multi-engine rating is preferred. A valid First or Second Class Medical certificate is required. A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) rating is highly desirable.
