Position Overview:

As a Production Test Pilot, you will conduct flight evaluations of newly manufactured aircraft to assess their airworthiness, performance, handling characteristics, and operational systems, ensuring compliance with Cirrus and FAA specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough preflight inspections, weight and balance assessments, and performance calculations to verify aircraft readiness for flight.
  • Assess weather conditions, aircraft status, and other relevant factors to make informed go/no-go decisions while adhering to Cirrus Flight Test safety protocols.
  • Execute a series of flight tests to evaluate the aircraft's systems, performance, handling, and stability, ensuring compliance with Type Design, FAA, and Cirrus Design quality standards.
  • Monitor and record data from instruments and equipment during test flights to analyze aircraft performance.
  • Collect data points and document aircraft behavior to assist technicians in diagnosing any anomalies in aircraft or systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of aircraft performance data and document any deviations from established criteria.
  • Adhere to all regulatory paperwork governing job responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Follow all Cirrus Design safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., flight suits, eye protection).
  • Collaborate effectively within a team while also being capable of independent work. Flexibility for weekend shifts may be required based on production needs.
  • Provide guidance and training to other test pilots as necessary.
  • Occasional overnight and international travel may be necessary.
  • Possession of a valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Candidates must be comfortable piloting non-pressurized aircraft at high altitudes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • A minimum of 1000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
  • At least four years of relevant experience or training in production flight testing and/or maintenance flight testing.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with various high-performance aircraft is advantageous; aerobatics, tail-wheel, multi-engine, or military flight experience is a plus.
  • A background in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar technical fields is highly desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

Applicants must hold an FAA Commercial or ATP pilot's license with single-engine and instrument ratings. A multi-engine rating is preferred. A valid First or Second Class Medical certificate is required. A Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) certification is highly desirable.
