The Physician Assistant serves as a vital healthcare provider, delivering comprehensive primary health services to diverse populations while prioritizing health promotion and disease prevention. This role is essential in addressing the growing need for accessible and accountable healthcare solutions. The Physician Assistant collaborates closely with a designated supervising physician, ensuring high-quality care through interdependent practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates patient access to healthcare by conducting thorough assessments, including detailed health histories, physical examinations, and relevant diagnostic tests, to evaluate health status and create a problem list.
  • Delivers continuous and coordinated primary healthcare that encompasses mutual goal setting and care planning.
  • Prescribes various treatment options tailored to meet the health and wellness needs of patients.
  • Provides educational support and counseling to patients and their families, fostering a therapeutic and supportive environment.
  • Oversees and assesses the care plan process and outcomes, making necessary adjustments to ensure understanding and compliance from patients.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and community organizations to ensure high-quality care, coordinating services to meet patients' primary healthcare needs and maintaining continuity of care.
  • Engages in quality assurance initiatives by developing protocols and participating in peer reviews, implementing improvements to care standards.
  • Takes responsibility for professional development and contributes to the growth of colleagues by acquiring in-depth knowledge of healthcare operations and policies.
  • Maintains clinical competence through mentorship with a supervising physician and managing a patient caseload to meet productivity standards, alongside participating in relevant educational activities.
  • Adheres to legal and ethical standards as outlined by the American Medical Association and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Documents comprehensive and accurate patient data using electronic health records, following established guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; licensure as a Physician Assistant with a minimum of one year of experience.
  • Additional Qualifications: Further clinical experience, education, or certification in a related field may be necessary. Experience consulting on special populations may also be required.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish or other languages is preferred and highly valued.
