Position Overview:

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Hospitalist at US Oncology Inc., you will play a vital role in the management and care of patients facing cancer and related conditions. Your work will involve both in-person and telemedicine consultations, primarily focusing on our affiliated hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Document interventions and evaluate patient responses, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Perform medical procedures with minimal oversight.
  • Identify patient and family educational needs and provide appropriate resources.
  • Encourage wellness and recommend community support services.
  • Integrate evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Ensure timely completion of patient documentation and charge capture.
  • Manage cases for patients and their families, serving as a resource for nursing staff.
  • Provide palliative care and support for patients and families as required.
  • Facilitate staff education and mentorship for new advanced practice providers and students.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Requires 3-5 years of post-MSN experience in a relevant specialty, along with RN state licensure and current registration.
  • Physician Assistant: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current NCCPA certification. Requires 3-5 years of experience in a relevant specialty and state licensure.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with completion of an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Requires 3-5 years of post-MSN experience in a relevant specialty and state licensure.

Physical Demands:

This role requires a full range of motion, including the ability to lift and maneuver patients, manual dexterity, and prolonged periods of standing and walking. The ability to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs is necessary.

Work Environment:

Work in an oncology/hematology clinic setting, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and other health-related conditions. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
