Position Overview:

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Hospitalist at US Oncology Inc., you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive care to patients facing cancer and related health challenges. Your responsibilities will encompass both in-person and telehealth services, focusing on our affiliated hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Document patient interactions and responses accurately, prescribing therapies as necessary.
  • Perform medical procedures with minimal oversight.
  • Identify patient and family educational needs and provide relevant information.
  • Encourage wellness and recommend community resources to support patient and family needs.
  • Integrate evidence-based research into clinical practice to enhance patient care.
  • Ensure timely completion of patient charge capture and medical record documentation.
  • May involve case management responsibilities for patients and their families.
  • Act as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical trials and research.
  • Provide palliative care support as required.
  • Facilitate staff education and training.
  • Participate in rounding at affiliated hospitals and be available for after-hours calls as needed.
  • Mentor and precept new advanced practice providers and students.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Physician Assistant: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program and current NCCPA certification, with 3-5 years of experience in the field.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program, with 3-5 years of experience.

Physical Requirements:

This role demands a full range of motion, including the ability to lift and handle patients, as well as manual dexterity. Candidates should be prepared for prolonged periods of standing and walking, and must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:

Employees may encounter conditions typical of an oncology/hematology clinic, including exposure to communicable diseases and medical substances.
