General Summary:
The EHS Class Aide plays a crucial role in enhancing the daily operations within the Early Head Start classroom. This position may involve providing individualized support to children with special needs, ensuring that all children receive the attention and care they require to thrive in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with fellow educators to facilitate daily activities in the Early Head Start center.
2. Provide assistance to children with special needs, as well as support other children during classroom activities, bathroom breaks, mealtimes, outdoor play, and field trips.
3. Help maintain accurate documentation for children requiring special assistance.
4. Ensure a clean and safe learning environment is upheld.
5. Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor without delay.
6. Engage in relevant Early Head Start training sessions and attend necessary meetings as required by management.
7. Maintain emergency supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
8. Foster a cooperative working relationship with all Head Start/Early Head Start personnel.
9. Understand the responsibilities associated with being a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect, and adhere to reporting protocols.
10. Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Must possess or be willing to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with classes to commence within six months of hire.
3. Familiarity with program curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices is essential.
4. Ability to interact positively and constructively with children and parents.
5. Capable of designing and implementing classroom activities tailored to individual children's needs.
6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other staff, parents, and management.
7. Knowledge of child development principles and effective child care practices.
8. Maintain a professional demeanor that reflects positively on the organization.
9. Complete a medical examination and TB assessment within the first month of employment, with periodic follow-ups as required.
10. Successfully pass background checks, including child abuse/neglect screenings and drug tests.

Working Environment:
This role involves potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or communicable diseases. The position may require travel on various road types for the transportation of children. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 55 pounds frequently, as well as standing, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor or in child-sized furniture.
