General Overview:
The EHS Class Aide plays a crucial role in enhancing the daily operations within the Early Head Start classroom. This position may involve working closely with children who have special needs, providing tailored support to ensure their educational experience is enriching and inclusive. Collaborating with the Lead Teacher and other educators, the Class Aide contributes to a nurturing learning environment for all enrolled children.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with teaching staff to facilitate daily activities within the Early Head Start center.
2. Provide support to children with special needs, as well as assisting other children in various settings such as classrooms, restrooms, mealtimes, playgrounds, and during field trips.
3. Assist in the documentation process for children requiring special accommodations.
4. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
5. Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor without delay.
6. Engage in relevant Early Head Start training and participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
7. Ensure emergency supplies are properly stored and maintained in line with agency policies.
8. Work collaboratively with all staff members within the Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
9. Understand the responsibilities associated with being a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect, adhering to established reporting procedures.
10. Undertake additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Must possess or be willing to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, starting classes within six months of hire.
3. Familiarity with program curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices is essential.
4. Ability to engage positively with children and parents.
5. Capable of designing and implementing activities tailored to individual children's needs.
6. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and management.
7. Knowledge of child development principles and effective guidance techniques.
8. Maintain a professional demeanor that reflects positively on the organization.
9. Complete a medical examination and TB assessment within the first month of employment, with follow-ups every five years.
10. Pass all required background checks and screenings.

Working Conditions:
This role may involve exposure to various health risks, including blood and body fluids, as well as the transportation of children. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 55 pounds, frequent bending, kneeling, and the ability to remain active throughout the day.
