Job Summary

The Climate Policy Analyst 2 will serve as the leader of the Office of Climate Change's adaptation section, coordinating implementation of the Community Risk and Resiliency Act (CRRA) and Executive and statutory directives related to adaptation, while ensuring compliance with the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing climate adaptation programs, including the state adaptation and resilience plan, and Extreme Heat Action Plan.
  • Coordinate interactions with other state agencies and stakeholders, conduct analyses, and draft or review reports.
  • Apply knowledge, skills, and aptitude in areas such as climate science, ecosystem management, government operations, policy development, project management, contract management, economic analyses, supervision, and written and oral communication to support development and application of policy and resources to achieve Office of Climate Change goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, coastal resources management, communications, ecology, economics, ecosystem management, engineering, environmental health, environmental science, environmental studies, forestry, geography, geology, hydrology, marine science, meteorology, natural resources, natural science, physical science, physics, planning, public administration, public policy, public policy and management, sustainability, transportation planning, wildlife science, or zoology.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in the establishment of environmental programs, preparing or reviewing climate relevant policies, plans, projects, regulations, or environmental analysis of climate change issues.
  • A qualifying Master's degree or higher can be substituted for one year of qualifying experience.
