Job Opportunity: Director, Innovation

Fusco Personnel, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Innovation to lead our client's efforts in driving innovation and climate technology research and development. This is a full-time direct hire position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of R&D contracts exceeding $100 million, focusing on transportation, renewable energy optimization, energy storage, net zero buildings, and smart grid technologies.
  • Effectively utilize internal resources and leverage external capital and partnerships to maximize the impact of NYSERDA funds.
  • Track and report the portfolio's financial and climate impacts, including patents, follow-on funding, greenhouse gas mitigation, and embedded carbon in the economy.
  • Lead a high-impact, entrepreneurial team.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong connections with the investment community, corporate partners, policy experts, and stakeholders to inform program focus and design.
  • Stay current with developments in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience in leadership positions related to climate technology research and development, technology commercialization, and innovation best practices.
  • Ability to perform managerial and supervisory responsibilities with experience fostering respect, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • A strong network of climate-related researchers, funding organizations, businesses, universities, and policymakers.
  • Knowledge of the investment landscape, commercialization processes, and scalability for climate-related technologies.
  • A demonstrated record of success in driving improvements in service operations and delivering services within complex business or government environments.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including team leadership and project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree and 8 years' experience.
Compensation:
  • $152-$191K.
