SPANISH LANGUAGE ARTS INSTRUCTOR – ADULT EDUCATION

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Adult Education initiative offers a range of complimentary classes designed for adult learners seeking to enhance their English proficiency, achieve a High School Diploma (GED), prepare for citizenship, or acquire essential skills for college and career advancement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Spanish Language Arts Instructor for Adult Secondary Education (ASE) operates on a part-time basis, focusing on delivering effective instruction in Language Arts to participants in the Adult Education program.

This role requires a deep commitment to teaching and the application of innovative instructional strategies tailored to meet the varied needs of students.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Delivering Spanish ASE Language Arts instruction aligned with the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for the course.
  • Utilizing core materials from the CCC Adult Education curriculum, including resources available in the Learning Management System.
  • Customizing lessons with supplementary materials as necessary.
  • Adapting the course syllabus based on the CCC Adult Education master syllabus.
  • Engaging students in discussions about the syllabus to clarify course expectations.
  • Conducting both formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records, monitoring class enrollment and retention, and submitting grades in a timely manner.
  • Meeting professional development requirements as stipulated by the ICCB, including completing 12 hours of professional development annually.
  • Assisting with program registration and orientation as needed.
  • Participating in staff development and program meetings as required.
  • Staying informed about state and federal regulations related to Adult Education policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required, preferably in fields such as Adult Education, Education, English, or Literacy Studies.
  • A Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • International degrees must be evaluated by a recognized provider.
  • Experience in teaching or tutoring is essential.
  • A satisfactory teaching demonstration may be required during the interview process.
  • Proficiency in both Spanish and English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is beneficial.
