Job Title: Medical Front Desk

Join our team at Palmetto Primary Care Physicians, the largest independent multi-specialty group practice in South Carolina, and be part of a dynamic team that provides exceptional medical care to patients in over 40 offices.

Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
  • Utilize electronic health records for tasks assigned and follow established workflows.
  • Handle patient calls and effectively manage schedules.
  • Evaluate daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments.
  • Check patients in by verifying demographics and insurance.
  • Collect co-pays and patient payments.
  • Check patients out and make follow-up appointments as indicated.
  • Comfort patients by anticipating their anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
  • Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Take direction and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the System (education, organizing, housekeeping and assisting others).
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
Requirements:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). 0 to 2 years' experience in a medical office setting.
