Position Overview:

The Senior Medical Officer at Texas Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is responsible for delivering exceptional medical care and overseeing integrated health services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Work Environment:
Our facilities provide a supportive atmosphere where the well-being of individuals is prioritized. The centers cater to those who are medically fragile or exhibit behavioral challenges, ensuring they receive the necessary care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical assessments and treatments for individuals with complex health needs.
- Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans with clear objectives and interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including families and community medical providers, to advocate for patient care.
- Monitor and evaluate the health status of individuals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with medical standards and regulations, including the Department of Justice Settlement Agreement.

Essential Functions:
- Attend work regularly and may be required to work specific or rotating shifts.
- Deliver high-quality medical services, ensuring adherence to current medical practices.
- Oversee chronic care management, including regular assessments and treatment adjustments.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to provide medical insights and updates on treatment plans.

Qualifications:
- Must hold a medical degree from an accredited institution and be licensed to practice in Texas.
- Experience in clinical settings, with a preference for leadership roles.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a background check and drug screening. Flexibility in work hours is required, including potential overtime and weekend shifts.
