Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GS2 Final Assembly Technician to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our spacecraft manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and quality assurance of our spacecraft systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup.
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
  • Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, composites, and electrical flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models.
  • Operate various materials handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts.
  • Setup and operate basic calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Assist with drill operations, tight tolerance holes, rivet structures, and assemble small components.
  • Install tubing and harness routing.
  • Assist with vehicle checkouts, including fluid lines leak checks and full vehicle power-on system checks.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions, including daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of heavy items (over 50lbs).
  • Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
  • Some experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Military experience.
