Role Overview

As a GS2 Final Assembly Technician II at Blue Origin, you will play a critical role in the development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles. This position is part of Blue Origin Operations, which encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. Your responsibilities will include manufacturing, assembling, and testing hardware for various spaceflight systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup.
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
  • Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, composites, and electrical flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models.
  • Operate various materials handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts.
  • Setup and operate basic calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Assist with drill operations, tight tolerance holes, rivet structures, and assemble small components.
  • Install tubing and harness routing.
  • Assist with vehicle checkouts, including fluid lines leak checks and full vehicle power-on system checks.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions, such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of direct experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Perform repetitive work, including lifting of heavy items (over 50lbs).
  • Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if necessary.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
  • Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
  • Some experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Military experience.
