We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Final Assembly Technician to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our spacecraft manufacturing team, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and delivery of our spacecraft systems.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup.
- Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
- Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, composites, and electrical flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models.
- Operate various materials handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts.
- Setup and operate basic calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
- Assist with drill operations, tight tolerance holes, rivet structures, and assemble small components.
- Install tubing and harness routing.
- Assist with vehicle checkouts, including fluid lines leak checks and full vehicle power-on system checks.
- Perform routine maintenance functions, including daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of direct experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
- Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
- Perform repetitive work, including lifting of heavy items, >50lbs.
- Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
- Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
- Some experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Military experience.
