Job Title: Open Rank Faculty in Epidemiology

Department Overview:

The Department of Epidemiology at the Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to advancing public health through innovative research and education. Our faculty engage in a variety of impactful research domains, including behavioral epidemiology, maternal and child health, psychiatric epidemiology, and health disparities. The department's strategic positioning within a prominent health sciences institution fosters collaboration with various health-related schools and research centers, enhancing our ability to influence public health policy and practice.

Primary Objective of the Role:

We are seeking qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in research areas such as nutritional epidemiology, substance abuse, injury prevention, environmental health, cardiovascular health, or health equity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Research: Conduct scholarly research to enhance the field of Epidemiology, develop a robust research agenda with potential for external funding, and mentor doctoral and post-doctoral students.
- Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction in PhD and MPH programs, and provide mentorship to students.
- Service: Engage in departmental, school, and university committees, represent the department in professional settings, and contribute to the field through roles such as grant reviewer or conference organizer.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in Epidemiology or a related discipline
  • Proven record of scholarly research and securing external funding
  • Experience in graduate-level teaching and mentorship
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with online education methodologies
