About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a faculty member in the Population Sciences department at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is an open-rank faculty position that will play a key role in advancing the research mission of the Massey Cancer Center.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects focused on cancer prevention and control, with a strong emphasis on advancing cancer health equity.
  • Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to design and conduct studies that address the confluence between biological, social, and policy drivers of cancer disparities.
  • Develop and maintain a strong research program, with a focus on securing extramural funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate in the Massey Cancer Center's Core Grant application preparation and engage with other members of the cancer center in cancer center activities and collaborative research projects.
  • Serve on institutional committees, study sections, review groups, and editorial boards.
Requirements
  • PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with training in medicine, epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
  • Extensive cancer-related research experience and a strong track record of continuous NCI funding.
  • Strong record of pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training in their field.
  • Extensive peer-reviewed publication experience and proven trainee and faculty mentorship skills.
  • Track record of working in multi-disciplinary fields and experience in coordinating collaborative grants and managing trans-disciplinary research.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a matrix environment within academic medicine.
  • Proven success in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
