Clinical Staff Pharmacist 1

This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires a licensed pharmacist to manage medication orders, provide clinical and drug information, and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Medication Order Processing and Dispensing:
- Reviews medication orders for completeness and appropriateness
- Conducts patient profile reviews prior to dispensing
- Detects and resolves basic order entry and prescribing problems
- Drug Preparation and Dispensing:
- Provides properly and accurately labeled medications
- Executes dispensing of medications in a timely manner
- Ensures product safety and patient safety
- Documentation:
- Complies with requirements for Pharmacy Department documentation
- Ensures clear and concise documentation
- Purchasing and Inventory Control:
- Obtains drugs in select emergency situations
- Provision of Clinical and Drug Information:
- Provides general verbal and/or written drug information
- Retrieves information from available resources
- Decentralized Pharmacist Role: Patient Teaching and Communication:
- Actively participates in multi-disciplinary rounds
- Counsels patients about their drug therapy
- Ensures safe medication use
- Maintains Professional Competency:
- Maintains current drug knowledge
- Keeps current with trends in pharmacy practice
- Represents the department and profession of pharmacy
- Oversees/Checks/Monitors Pharmacy Technician Work:
- Aware of and responsible for overseeing pharmacy technician activities
- Conducts in-process and final checks on pharmacy technician performance
- Project Management Skills to Extend Practice of Pharmacy:
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload
- Develops, initiates, maintains, and completes assigned projects
- Provides Training, Team Teaching, Mentoring, and Precepting of Students:
- Develops and uses training material to onboard new staff
- Precepts students in area of rotation/concentration
- Demonstrates Current Knowledge, Ability to Work, and Comply with All Pharmacy Regulations:
- Ability to reference and look up pharmacy regulations
- Ability to perform working knowledge of current regulations/requirements
- Licensed Pharmacist
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an approved college of Pharmacy
- New pharmacy school graduate or limited experience (0-3 years)
- ACPE accredited pharmacy program (PharmD program or BS pharmacy)
- Computer skills (PC, Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Preferred (Cerner, Omnicell, MS Access, Simply797, Tracelink)
- Manual: significant manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity
- Occupational: some occupational risk
- Physical Effort: medium to heavy effort
- Physical Environment: some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
