The Cross-functional Pharmacy Technician & Medication Coordinator role at Genoa is a vital position that influences the lives of an underserved population. This onsite role will function as a pharmacy technician within our mental health specialty pharmacy while acting as a liaison between various partner clinics.

You will support all operations of the mental health and specialty pharmacy by providing onsite assistance in the partner clinic, coordinating prescription services, dispensing medical prescriptions, and performing essential clerical tasks, dividing your time between the clinic office and the pharmacy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services provided by Genoa.
  • Facilitate the enrollment of consumers using necessary forms and collect their insurance information.
  • Assist in gathering prescriptions to be transmitted to the pharmacy for fulfillment.
  • Ensure that all consumer insurance details are current in the pharmacy system and that medications dispensed are accurately charged.
  • Help consumers in reaching out to the pharmacist for any medication inquiries, ensuring timely responses.
  • Support clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as required.
  • Monitor consumer compliance by following up monthly to assess adherence and refill needs.
  • Manage prescription refills by utilizing reports and contacting prescribers to ensure timely processing.
  • Deliver medications when necessary and permitted by state regulations.
  • Check expiration dates on consumer medications and pharmacy stock.
  • Ensure proper storage of medications, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Identify discrepancies in medication orders and changes.

Primary Pharmacy Site Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all consumers and clinic staff.
  • Fill prescription orders under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Order, receive, and store incoming pharmacy supplies.
  • Process wholesaler medication orders.
  • Verify medication inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Perform various clerical duties related to the department.
  • Communicate effectively with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Complete other assigned duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or higher.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License or Certification in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hospital or pharmacy technician experience.
  • Valid Driver's license and insurance.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a behavioral or mental health environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a close-knit team and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Capability to learn new software systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a professional, results-driven attitude.
