The Cross-functional Pharmacy Technician & Medication Coordinator role at Genoa is vital in impacting the lives of an underserved population that requires advocacy. This position involves working as a pharmacy technician in our mental health specialty pharmacy while serving as a liaison between various partner clinics.

You will support all operations of the mental health and specialty pharmacy by providing onsite assistance in the partner clinic, coordinating prescription services, dispensing medical prescriptions, and performing essential clerical tasks, dividing your time between the clinic office and the pharmacy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with all consumers of the mental health center regarding the medication services provided by Genoa.
  • Assist in recruiting and enrolling consumers using enrollment forms and obtaining copies of their insurance cards.
  • Facilitate the collection of prescriptions to be sent to the pharmacy for dispensing.
  • Ensure all consumer insurance information is current in the pharmacy system and accurately charged for dispensed medications.
  • Help consumers in contacting the pharmacist with any medication inquiries and ensure prompt responses.
  • Support clinic staff and pharmacy with prior authorizations and Patient Assistance programs as necessary.
  • Monitor compliance by reaching out to consumers monthly to confirm adherence and assess refill needs.
  • Manage prescription refills by utilizing the no refill report and coordinating with the prescriber for timely refills.
  • Deliver medications when required and permitted by state regulations.
  • Check expiration dates on consumer medications and house account products.
  • Ensure proper storage of medications, including refrigeration for temperature-sensitive drugs.
  • Identify discrepancies such as dose changes or discontinued medications.

Primary Pharmacy Site Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all consumers and clinic staff.
  • Fill prescription orders and make them available for verification under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Order, receive, and store incoming pharmacy supplies.
  • Process wholesaler medication orders.
  • Verify medication stock and maintain inventory records.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist to assist in pharmacy operations and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Perform various clerical duties related to the department.
  • Communicate effectively using strong verbal and written skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or higher.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License or Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Two or more years of hospital or pharmacy technician experience.
  • Valid Driver's license and insurance.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a behavioral or mental health setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team and possess solid administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proven capacity to learn other software systems.
  • Detail-oriented, professional, results-driven with a positive outlook and patient focus.
