Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Materials Management services as Assistant Vice President. This key role will make strategic decisions regarding procurement services and oversee daily operations, establishing policies and processes to guide contract negotiations across the health system.
Key Responsibilities- Develops a procurement plan and strategy to reduce and contain costs, evaluates and assists in vendor selection, and ensures excellent supplier performance
- Oversees and participates in contract negotiations, ensuring procurement policies and procedures meet internal and external compliance requirements
- Leverages data capabilities to drive decision making, focusing on future business needs, innovation, and efficiency improvements
- Initiates and develops strategic plans, policies, and procedures for areas of the business where needed
- Identifies and develops new business initiatives and opportunities consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System
- Establishes and measures organizational performance against goals and objectives
- Leads daily operations, interprets changes in the marketplace, generates ideas, and participates in initiatives that increase market advantage
- Defines aim, objective, metrics, and process measures to implement management controls and reporting procedures
- Orchestrates enterprise-wide supply chain processes for needs determination, procurement, distribution, and disposal of supplies, equipment, and purchased services
- Oversees procurement initiatives from conception to completion and drives collaborative change throughout the organization
- Partners with hospital executives, service line leadership, and key stakeholders to identify business needs and formulate solutions to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve quality
- Consults on sourcing solutions, negotiates agreements, and develops and manages vendor relationships to optimize growth while mitigating risks
- Hires, trains, supervises, counsels, and evaluates direct reports
- Mentors developing Operational Leaders on performance improvement techniques, including assisting with strategic planning of initiatives focused on Health System priorities
- Manages staff development and training with a focus on productivity, staff retention, travel, and expense, billability
- Master's degree in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration, or an approved related program
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, personnel and labor relations, finance, or appropriate functional discipline
- Strong leadership and partnership skills, keen analytical skills, and strong writing and presentation skills
- Experience working for a hospital system and specialized knowledge and experience with procurement and supply chain in a healthcare environment are strongly preferred
