Position Title: Financial Analyst

Position Reports To: Vice President of Finance

Position Summary: Major League Baseball Network is in search of a Financial Analyst who possesses a robust understanding of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). This role involves identifying financial issues and trends, providing insightful recommendations, and conducting precise financial analyses for the development of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans for MLB Network (MLBN). The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities encompass:
  • Contributing to the preparation and presentation of MLBN's annual operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to senior management.
  • Delivering timely, accurate, and credible updates on business plans based on budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to relevant stakeholders.
  • Managing essential processes during monthly closings and financial reporting.
  • Creating monthly management reporting packages for both internal and external stakeholders, along with ad hoc reports as required.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships by synthesizing data, analyzing findings, and communicating results to stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge.
  • Monitoring financial and operational KPIs and providing actionable insights to senior management.
  • Ensuring that contractual commitments are clearly documented, understood, and fulfilled.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and tracking capital expenditures on a monthly basis.
  • Overseeing monthly working capital and cash flow management.
  • Reviewing daily transactions in accordance with established financial processes to ensure accuracy.
  • Assisting in the design, setup, and continuous improvement of Financial Systems and related systems as necessary.
  • Creating, maintaining, and supporting the development of reports and dashboards for ongoing needs.
  • Identifying trends and issues, and problem-solving to enhance the quality of financial results.
  • Performing other duties as required.
It is anticipated that the Financial Analyst will continuously enhance their knowledge in the Finance discipline and the business landscape.

Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate should possess most, if not all, of the following skills and experiences:
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis or related business roles.
  • Experience in television, advertising, affiliate sales, or knowledge of production finance/accounting is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of management.
  • Capability to work effectively with individuals at remote locations and various stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, demonstrating initiative and the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently.
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic environment and recommend and implement process improvements independently.
  • Proven ability to assume leadership roles in various functions.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Excel and other financial reporting systems.
  • Experience with ERPs such as Oracle Fusion and BI tools like Board, Tableau, Power BI, Adaptive Planning, etc., is highly preferred.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to effectively operate computers and related equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity necessary to deliver required work products.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods to effectively complete required tasks.
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; a major in Finance or Accounting is highly preferred.

Work Classification: Flextime: Employees are permitted to work remotely 40% of the week, with in-office days determined by the manager.
