Position Overview:
Major League Baseball is in search of a Financial Planning Specialist who possesses a robust understanding of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). This role will be pivotal in identifying financial trends and challenges, providing insightful recommendations, and conducting thorough financial evaluations for the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting and demonstrate exceptional performance.Key Responsibilities:
Core duties include:
Contribute to the development and presentation of MLB's annual operating and capital budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to senior leadership.
Manage essential processes during monthly financial closings and reporting.
Compile monthly management reporting packages for both internal and external stakeholders, along with creating ad hoc reports as needed.
Foster effective working relationships by synthesizing data, analyzing results, and communicating findings to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise.
Build confidence in the data presented to end users.Track financial and operational KPIs and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
Ensure that contractual obligations are clearly documented and adhered to.
Oversee, maintain, and monitor accurate monthly tracking of capital expenditures.
Manage and monitor monthly working capital and cash flow.
Review daily transactions to ensure compliance with current financial processes.
Assist in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Financial Systems and related tools as necessary.
Create, maintain, and support the development of reports and dashboards for ongoing requirements.
Identify trends and issues, providing solutions to enhance the quality of financial outcomes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
It is anticipated that the Financial Planning Specialist will continuously enhance their knowledge in finance and the business landscape.
Qualifications & Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess most, if not all, of the following qualifications:
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in financial analysis or related business roles is essential.
Experience in television, advertising, affiliate sales, or familiarity with production finance/accounting is advantageous.
Exhibit excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the capability to engage with all levels of management.
Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals in remote locations, including various stakeholders.
Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Must excel in a dynamic environment and be capable of recommending and implementing process enhancements while working independently.
Proven ability to take on leadership roles across various functions is required.Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other financial reporting systems is necessary.
Experience with ERPs such as Oracle Fusion and BI tools like Board, Tableau, Power BI, Adaptive Planning, etc., is highly desirable.
Flexibility in work schedule is essential.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Possess the manual dexterity to effectively operate computers and related equipment.
Visual and auditory acuity is necessary to deliver required work products effectively.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods to fulfill job responsibilities.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree is required; a major in Finance or Accounting is highly preferred.
Work Classification:
Flextime: Employees are permitted to work remotely 40% of the week, with in-office days determined by management.
Work classifications may be subject to change at the discretion of the Company.
