Job Summary

Asian Health Services is seeking a skilled Community Healing Advocate to provide direct services to victims of crime, hate, and violence. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Community Healing Unit Program Manager to coordinate with the Community Healing Unit (CHU) Team and provide emotional support, access to resources, and warm handoffs of clients to internal and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Community Healing Unit staff and CHU Program Manager to provide direct services to victims impacted by crime, hate, and violence.
  • Conduct intake assessments on new referrals and develop rapport with clients who require mental health support.
  • Connect clients to financial resources and assist with applications as needed, such as the California Victims Compensation Fund.
  • Link clients to services and referrals within Asian Health Services and to external providers and agencies as needed.
  • Assist clients in navigating systems, including law enforcement, the court process, and the District Attorney's office.
  • Conduct accurate documentation of patient information and records in electronic health records systems and other tracking procedures.
  • Develop and maintain contacts and working relations with staff at other organizations serving the Asian immigrant community.
  • Represent Asian Health Services in various community forums, events, presentations, workshops, coalitions, and meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work or psychology, or equivalent experience.
  • Four years of relevant work experience in a health setting.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write at a high proficiency level in an Asian language, such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Khmer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as health, social service, or a closely-related field.
  • Experience working in the community health field.
  • Basic understanding and familiarity with concepts such as Motivational Interviewing, client-centered care, and trauma-informed care.
