Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employee and Labor Relations Specialist to join our team at Delta College. This role will be responsible for assisting with employee and labor relations, collaborating with various employee groups, and supporting initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and facilitate communication with collective bargaining units, handling routine labor relations and human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements.
  • Participate in contract negotiations as needed, assisting with compiling necessary data for negotiations, including comparison information on wages, benefits, and comparative contract language.
  • Coordinate the grievance process as needed, ensuring compliance with federal regulations related to gender discrimination and sexual misconduct.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and students regarding Title IX policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms, collaborating with the Title IX Coordinator and the Center for Organizational Success (COS) to deliver training sessions and educational programs.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into complaints or allegations of employee misconduct, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, and policy violations, working collaboratively with HR leadership to recommend corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Serve as the primary contact to respond to questions from staff and management regarding ADA compliance and accommodation requests, evaluating, researching, and administering employee requests for workplace accommodations.
  • Support the development and implementation of retention strategies, including professional development, succession planning, and career advancement programs, using data from culture surveys, staff satisfaction surveys, and exit interviews to gather feedback and insights.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skills.
  • 3-7 years of position-related experience.
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is required.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector environment is preferred.
