Job Overview

Position Title: Housing Navigator

Classification: Non-exempt

Supervised By: Manager, Team Leader II

Job Summary: The Housing Navigator plays a crucial role in facilitating landlord engagement and retention efforts to support clients in securing housing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in community outreach initiatives to attract and maintain landlord participation.
  2. Assist in overcoming challenges that may hinder landlords' continued involvement in the program.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of clients to identify their housing requirements.
  4. Work collaboratively with case managers and clients to formulate and monitor housing case plans.
  5. Support clients in locating and obtaining stable housing solutions.
  6. Adapt work schedules to meet the needs of families.
  7. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all services provided in case records.
  8. Prepare monthly reports and maintain data entry as stipulated by contractual obligations, including meeting productivity targets.
  9. Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information and materials.
  10. Build and nurture relationships with various community service organizations.
  11. Participate in agency, program, and collaborative meetings as required.
  12. Receive guidance and report to the team leader for direct supervision.
  13. Engage in relevant training opportunities as necessary.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, education, or a related human services field. Specialized training or expertise in a relevant area is preferred. Demonstrated experience in providing in-home, low-income, family-centered services or equivalent experience is advantageous.

Knowledge: Familiarity with community resources is essential.

Abilities: Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity. Ability to offer support, structure, empathy, sound judgment, and insight into human behavior and family dynamics is required.

Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary. Must be a collaborative team player while also being capable of working independently. Proficiency in computer use is expected.

Other Requirements: A valid California driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required, with a willingness to use it for job-related tasks.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods in client homes, offices, or during meetings.
  • Regular travel to clients or agency and community meetings is necessary.
  • Frequent manual note-taking and documentation in case files.

Work Environment:

  • Shared office space.
  • Noise levels may vary from quiet to noisy.
