Housing Support Specialist

Position Title: Housing Navigator
Classification: Non-exempt
Supervised By: Manager, Team Leader II
Job Summary: The Housing Navigator plays a crucial role in facilitating landlord engagement and retention efforts to support clients in securing housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in community outreach initiatives to attract and maintain landlord participation.
- Assist in overcoming challenges that may hinder landlords' continued involvement in the program.
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients to identify their housing requirements.
- Work collaboratively with case managers and clients to formulate and monitor housing case plans.
- Support clients in locating and obtaining stable housing solutions.
- Adapt work schedules to meet the needs of families.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all services provided in case records.
- Prepare monthly reports and maintain data entry as stipulated by contractual obligations, including meeting productivity targets.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive information and materials.
- Build and nurture relationships with various community service organizations.
- Participate in agency, program, and collaborative meetings as required.
- Receive guidance and report to the team leader for direct supervision.
- Engage in relevant training opportunities as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, education, or a related human services field. Specialized training or expertise in a relevant area is preferred. Demonstrated experience in providing in-home, low-income, family-centered services or equivalent experience is advantageous.
Knowledge: Familiarity with community resources is essential.
Abilities: Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity. Ability to offer support, structure, empathy, sound judgment, and insight into human behavior and family dynamics is required.
Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary. Must be a collaborative team player while also being capable of working independently. Proficiency in computer use is expected.
Other Requirements: A valid California driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required, with a willingness to use it for job-related tasks.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit for extended periods in client homes, offices, or during meetings.
- Regular travel to clients or agency and community meetings is necessary.
- Frequent manual note-taking and documentation in case files.
Work Environment:
- Shared office space.
- Noise levels may vary from quiet to noisy.
