Job Summary
The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Publications Coordinator in the Attorney General's Office. This role is responsible for preparing official and informal opinions for issuance and overseeing the publication of the Annual Report of the Attorney General.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare official and informal opinions for issuance, ensuring accuracy and adherence to style guidelines.
- Oversee the publication of the Annual Report of the Attorney General, including collecting and editing submissions from other divisions.
- Conduct legal research and draft opinions as assigned.
- Transmit approved opinions to clients and arrange for publication on the internet.
- Develop and improve public access to official opinions, including creating a comprehensive subject index.
- Collaborate with publishers to ensure timely publication of the Annual Report.
- Perform additional duties, including preparing weekly opinion status reports and maintaining opinions files.
Requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of foundational legal principles and adeptness in conducting thorough legal research.
- Proficiency in resolving intricate legal issues and effective communication skills.
- Attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word.
- Ability to organize tasks, establish priorities, and foster positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Awaiting admission or already admitted to the Virginia State Bar and a member in good standing.
