Economic Development Attorney

Job Summary
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced Attorney to provide guidance on legal issues and policy interpretation and development in the Office of the General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and enforce agreements involving economic development incentive grant programs.
- Assist with the application of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act in conducting public meetings and responding to records requests.
- Advise staff on the development and use of economic development incentives.
- Assist with the review and development of economic development-related legislation and policy.
- Conduct other legal work to support VEDP.
Requirements
- At least five years' experience as a licensed attorney.
- Graduation from an ABA accredited law school and membership in the Virginia State Bar (or eligibility for membership) is required.
- Strong knowledge of relevant federal and Virginia laws and constitutions and the operation of Virginia government.
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement projects.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
