Position Overview

The Senior Arboriculture Compliance Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous vegetation along utility corridors. This role involves conducting thorough inspections and evaluations of trees and brush, ensuring safety and compliance with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols in alignment with the annual vegetation management strategy and standards.
  • Identify necessary tree maintenance along utility rights-of-way, documenting findings and prescribing appropriate actions.
  • Communicate with property owners and relevant agencies regarding upcoming tree work, securing necessary permissions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for new projects and reconstruction efforts.
  • Verify completion and quality of tree work through detailed inspections.
  • Investigate tree-related outages and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Manage various vegetation management tags, including tracking and customer notifications for non-routine locations.
  • Assist in closing out cases in the field post-inspection.
  • Support emergency response efforts by coordinating tree crew dispatch and site assessments.
  • Work autonomously to complete tasks assigned by management.
  • Oversee vegetation projects, including tree assessments and trimming operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Act as a representative for customer relations on behalf of the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Complete both electronic and paper documentation as required.
  • More experienced inspectors may conduct audits of work performed by less experienced staff.
  • Assist in training new inspectors as needed.
  • Facilitate communication with contractors to resolve any operational challenges.

  • Knowledge of local tree species and their growth characteristics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Accountability and personal responsibility in work tasks.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class C driver's license required.
  • Must meet company driver acceptability standards.
  • Experience driving 4x4 vehicles or SUVs.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in tree crew operations or as a Vegetation Management Inspector, with relevant certifications.
  • Military service with honorable discharge may be considered with additional experience in vegetation management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and hike for extended periods in various terrains.
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform tasks in diverse weather conditions.
