Job Title: Technical Product Support Engineer

At Plasma-Therm, we are seeking a highly skilled Technical Product Support Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our systems engineering group, you will be responsible for developing and releasing installation and setup procedures, as well as providing engineering lab, alpha, and beta site support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, commission, and maintain products at user sites, performing modifications or retrofits as needed.
  • Act as a system-level expert focused on product support for new product development.
  • Demonstrate depth of expertise in Plasma Etch specialized discipline or field.
  • Provide Alpha/Beta Site Support, specifically related to installation, operation, calibration, service, and/or testing of new hardware, software, or processes on a customer tool.
  • Responsible for product hardware performance at specific customer sites, providing third-level escalation for hardware and software issues.
  • Conduct on-site training for early learning shipments and new product introductions, enhancing local team product technical knowledge by frequent knowledge transfer from the MDS BU to the Field customers.
  • Recommend and implement best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Semiconductor or Similar Capital Equipment Product Development, with 5+ years of vacuum equipment experience.
  • Prior experience performing multiple on-site installations required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and valid passport.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals and reports.
  • Ability to support customers as assigned.
  • Ability to compile reports and compose routine correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and respond to common inquiries, complaints, and requests.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent people skills and project a professional image.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers and negative situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to travel (> 50%) to customer and/or vendor sites.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room and laboratory facilities.
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions.
