Business Development Director

About the Role:
As the Director of Business Development, you'll be responsible for identifying, managing, and closing growth opportunities with our existing customer base. This sales-oriented role requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a customer-centric approach. You'll work closely with our Customer Success team and report to the VP of Sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and substantiate upsell potential within our customer portfolio, focusing on revenue growth in 2024 and beyond.
- Build strong rapport with customers through deep engagement with the Customer Success team.
- Identify expansion challenges and opportunities for our customers and advocate for change to remove blockers for growth.
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, in partnership with our Customer Marketing team, focused on high-value products with strong probabilities of conversion.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with delivery teams to communicate growth opportunities and value propositions effectively.
- Utilize strategic and consultative selling techniques to position BenchPrep as a trusted advisor in the learning platform space.
Requirements:
- 10-15 years of Sales experience in a SaaS and EdTech environment.
- Candidates with experience within the Associations or Credentialing space, or those who have sold into those sectors, will be prioritized.
- Experience working with Enterprise-level sales ($100K and above) in matrixed organizations where decision making is distributed.
- Self-driven with a proactive mindset to navigate ambiguity and drive results independently.
- Team-oriented with strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-centric approach with a positive attitude and a knack for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

The salary range for this position is between $130,000 & $150,000 + variable commission plan, set based on Chicago market data.
