Job Title: Senior Registered Nurse

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Job Summary:

The Senior Registered Nurse will work closely with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care delivery, focusing on a particular patient population or specific health conditions. Using the nursing process, the Senior Registered Nurse will assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient responses.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide care for assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
  • Must be able to provide continuous assessment, consult with other team members as required, and provide nursing care that demonstrates patient-centered/patient-valued care.
  • Must exercise independent judgment in providing nursing care.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have 2+ years of ICU nursing experience.
  • Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
  • Must have current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire or placement in the role.
  • Must have current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
