Job Summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our OB/GYN Emergency Services team. As a Senior Registered Nurse Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient care delivery, focusing on a particular patient population or specific health conditions, using the Parkland nursing professional practice model.
  • Assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient responses.
  • Utilize knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients in transitioning through the healthcare encounter without preventable complications or delays.
  • Delegate interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, patient condition, and employee competencies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new protocols, nursing programs, policies, and procedures specific to the clinical area.
  • Serve as a patient advocate, focusing on patient needs, rights, confidentiality, and religious and cultural preferences.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers, employees, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • ASN or BSN degree from an accredited Professional School of Nursing.
  • Current/Valid State of TX RN license or valid temporary permit; or valid Compact RN license in good standing without stipulations.
  • Two (2) years of direct registered nursing experience in OB/GYN and/or Emergency Department within the last 2 years.
  • Valid/Current Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification and the ability to maintain thereafter.
  • Valid/Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS), and the ability to maintain thereafter.
