About the Role

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Registered Nurse Specialist to join our Labor and Delivery team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care to laboring patients, stable neonates, recovering patients, and postpartum patients.
  • Assess patients' conditions, recognize changes, and provide appropriate interventions as necessary.
  • Consult with other team members, notify providers, and implement orders in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties during the laboring process, vaginal delivery, cesarean delivery, and immediate postpartum period.
  • Support breastfeeding and provide education related to newborn care.
  • Administer medications safely, maintain IV access, perform POC monitoring, and demonstrate infection control practices.
  • Assess and manage pain, provide emergency resuscitation care to neonates and patients, and complete accurate documentation.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Two years of nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from a recognized organization.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire or placement in the role.
  • NRP certification upon hire or placement in the role.
  • Additional specialty certifications may be required.
