Biotechnology Strategy Advisor

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a strategic technical advisor to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), assisting in the oversight and implementation of cutting-edge government-funded research and development initiatives. Collaborate in a dynamic, highly interactive setting as a scientific or technical consultant in biological sciences to support the client. Utilize extensive technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to guide clients in various domains, including Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Synthetic Biology. Harness a wide-ranging expertise to evaluate technologies across diverse applications, working alongside leading scientists to propel research efforts aimed at developing advanced biological technologies that enhance the client's operations and improve the preparedness of our warfighters. Deliver strategic evaluations of emerging technologies to align with the organization's objectives, generate technical documentation, present insights, monitor technological advancements, analyze technology program strategies, and undertake other related tasks as required by the client. Compile and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients regarding the feasibility and potential impact of future research initiatives, aiding in the management of ongoing programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to Department of Defense stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in research within Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Synthetic Biology
  • Proven experience in authoring technical documents, reports, or program strategies for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to showcase multiple first-author contributions to peer-reviewed publications or patents
  • Proficient in articulating and presenting complex scientific concepts to a diverse audience
  • Capability to obtain a security clearance
  • Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Synthetic Biology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience within the U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) as a research analyst, intelligence analyst, or in a similar analytical role
  • 2+ years of experience in postdoctoral academic or industrial research
  • Familiarity with scientific databases and data mining methodologies
  • Experience in scientific writing
  • Understanding of biotechnology principles, methodologies, and applications
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Doctorate degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Synthetic Biology, or a related discipline

Clearance Requirements:

Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
