Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Registered Nurse Specialist to join our Labor and Delivery team at Parkland Health and Hospital System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading by example, and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, stable neonates, recovering patients, and postpartum patients, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating expertise in labor and delivery nursing practices, and serving as a resource for other healthcare team members.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized plans of care, ensuring seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Develop and conduct educational programs for nursing staff, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment, fostering open communication, and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Requirements
  • Current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing or valid Compact RN license.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network.
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification upon hire or placement in the role.
  • Current NRP certification upon hire or placement in role.
  • May be required to have additional specialty certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Experience in labor and delivery nursing, with expertise in electronic fetal monitoring and maternal-fetal care.
